Corn Chowder 🌽🌽🌽

Here is a very quick and delicious soup.
This doubles well and served with bread, makes a great meal!

🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽
CORN CHOWDER
*****************
5 or 6 slices of bacon - chopped
1 onion - chopped
1 carrot - chopped
2 cups fresh or frozen corn nibblets or a large can of cream corn
2 cups diced Potatos
1 can cream of mushroom soup
3 cups milk
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper

In a large pot, cook bacon and onion until cooked.
Add the rest of the ingredients and bring to a boil.
Simmer until the Potatos are done.

Chicken Breasts with Mushroom Sauce

This is an easy dish that is elegant enough to serve for company.
Serve with mashed potatoes or rice.
A beautiful dish!

CHICKEN BREASTS WITH MUSHROOM SAUCE

1/4 cup flour
2 tbsp sour cream
2 tsp dry mustard powder
1 cup chicken stock
4 chicken breasts ( boneless and skinless )
1/8 tsp thyme
1/8 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1 tbsp butter
1 1/2 cups sliced mushrooms
A bit of fresh parsley for garnish
➰〰➰
In a small bowl, combine 2 tbsp flour, sour cream, mustard powder, and 2-3 tbsp chicken stock.
Set aside.
In a medium bowl, combine remaining flour, thyme salt and pepper.
Coat chicken in flour mixture.
Melt butter in a frying pan over medium - low heat.
Cook chicken for 8-10 minutes on each side or until cooked.
Put on a plate and set aside.
Put mushrooms in frying pan and cook, stirring constantly for 2-3 minutes.
Add the remaining chicken stock.
Increase heat and boil for 2-3 minutes.
Whisk in the sour cream mixture and continue stirring.
When thickened, add chicken and cook a couple of minutes more.
Serve with a bit of parsley for garnish.

Never Fail Chocolate Fudge

This is so simple to make and so rich and delicious.
Who doesn't like fudge??

NEVER FAIL CHOCOLATE FUDGE
*********************************
2/3 cup evaporated milk
1 2/3 cups white sugar
Pinch of salt
1 1/2 cups chocolate chips ( pure chocolate)
1 1/2 cups mini marshmallows 
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
〰➰〰
Bring milk, sugar and salt to a boil stirring constantly.
Remove from heat and add in chocolate chips, marshmallows and vanilla.
Stir until everything is melted and combined.
Pour into a greased 8x8 pan.
Refrigerate until set and then cut into squares.
Delicious .....

Zucchini Bread

This is a great loaf. Nice and moist.
A perfect way to use an abundance of zucchini.


ZUCCHINI BREAD
*****************
2 eggs
1/2 cup oil
1 cup sugar
1 cup grated unpeeled zucchini
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
〰➰〰
Mix eggs, oil, sugar, zucchini and vanilla.
Add flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and cinnamon.
Stir just to moisten.
Spoon into a greased loaf pan.
Bake at 350*F for about 1 hour or until knife inserted comes out clean.
Yum.

Lemon Bars πŸ‹πŸ‹

These little beauties are so good.
It took me literally years to find this recipe.
It originally was printed on the back of Eagle Brand sweetened milk.



LEMON BARS
**************
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/2 cup melted butter
1/3 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
πŸ‹πŸ‹
1 can Eagle Brand sweetened milk
1/2 cup FRESH lemon juice ( I used 4 lemons )
2 tsp lemon zest
πŸ‹πŸ‹πŸ‹
In a medium bowl combine graham crumbs, melted butter, brown sugar, flour, baking powder and salt.
Mix well.
Press 2/3 of mixture into a square cake pan.
πŸ‹πŸ‹
In another bowl, combine sweetened milk, lemon juice and lemon zest.
Mix well to combine.
Pour over crumbs in pan.
πŸ‹πŸ‹
Sprinkle remaining crumbs over top.
πŸ‹πŸ‹
Bake at 350*F for 20 minutes.
Cool completely before cutting.

These are even better the next day!!

Russian Chicken πŸ—

Here is a classic.
This extremely easy recipe is amazing!
Serve it on a bed of rice with a salad or green vegetable.


RUSSIAN CHICKEN
*******************
Chicken pieces - whatever you prefer
πŸ”Έ
1/2 -1 cup apricot jam
1 package of dry onion soup mix
1 small bottle of Russian salad dressing ( about 1 -1 1/2 cups )
πŸ”Έ
1/4 cup water
1 tbsp cornstarch
➰〰➰〰
In a casserole dish, place chicken pieces in a single layer.
πŸ—
Mix jam, soup mix and salad dressing in a small bowl.
Spoon mixture over top of the chicken.
πŸ—
Bake covered at 350*F for 40 minutes.
Uncover and bake for 30 minutes more.
πŸ—
Remove from oven.
Mix cornstarch and water together and add to sauce to thicken it.
πŸ—
Serve chicken with sauce spooned over top.
Yum.

Chinese Pepper Steak

This fast and easy meal is sure to please everyone.
Serve it with rice or even over top of a bed of noodles.



CHINESE PEPPER STEAK
************************

1 1/2 lbs cheap steak cut into thin strips
2-3 tbsp oil
1/2 cup soya sauce
3 tbsp brown sugar
3 tbsp cornstarch
1 tsp minced ginger
2 cloves garlic minced
1/8 tsp pepper
1 large onion - sliced
2 green peppers - sliced
1-2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
〰〰〰

In a medium bowl, combine soya sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, ginger, garlic and pepper.
Mix to combine all ingredients.
Add steak strips to marinate for for 10-20 minutes.
πŸ”Ή
Heat a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add a tablespoon or so of oil and about a third of the steak strips.
Cook until the meat is well browned.
Remove from pan and set aside in a bowl.
Repeat with the remaining steak strips until they are all cooked.
πŸ”Ή
Add some more oil and the onion to the pan and cook about 2 minutes. 
Add the cooked meat and the peppers to the pan.
Cook about 3-4 minutes until the peppers are a nice bright green.
Add mushrooms and cook a couple of minutes more.
πŸ”Ή
You may need to add a bit of water to thin out the sauce.
πŸ”Ή
Serve over rice or noodles.

Shrimp Quiche 🍀

This makes a nice lunch or a light dinner when you add a salad.
Asparagus is a nice addition to the quiche also if you like.


SHRIMP QUICHE
*****************
1 pie shell - store bought or homemade
4 eggs
1 1/2 cups light cream
1/8 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1 1/2 cups cooked shrimp ( canned is ok too)
3/4 cup shredded cheese
1/4 cup chopped green onion
1/4 cup chopped green pepper
3/4 tsp tarragon 

🍀🍀🍀
Preheat oven to 400 *F
Pre bake pie shell for 6-8 minutes.
Take pie shell out of oven.
Turn heat down to 350* F
In a medium bowl, combine eggs, cream, salt, pepper and tarragon.
Beat lightly.
Set aside.
In a medium bowl, combine shrimp, cheese, green onions and green pepper.
Mix to combine.
Spoon mixture into pie shell.
Pour egg mixture over shrimp mixture.
Bake at 350*F for 35-40 minutes

Lentil Roast

Meatless Monday never tasted so good!
This is a tasty meal that resembles a meatloaf.
Serve it with a tomato sauce on top or with a gravy if you prefer.
Very easy to make.

LENTIL ROAST
**************
2 cups cooked lentils ( canned is fine too)
1 1/2 cups milk
1/4 cup oil
1 1/2 cups bread crumbs
1 egg
1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sage
1/2 cup grated onion
1 cup grated carrots
1 cup chopped celery 

πŸŒŸπŸ”ΊπŸŒŸ
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and mix well.
Put into a loaf pan or a small casserole that has been sprayed with cooking spray.
Bake at 350*F for about 1 hour.

Baked Vegetable Frittata

This makes an easy brunch or dinner.
Eggs are very versatile and this recipe is colourful and delicious.


Feel free to add whatever vegetables you like.
Brocolli or asparagus is awesome in this recipe too!

BAKED VEGETABLE FRITTATA
*******************************
2 tbsp butter
1 bunch green onions - chopped
1 clove garlic - minced
1 green pepper - chopped
2 cups cherry tomatoes - halved
8 eggs
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
➰➰➰
Preheat oven to 350*F
Spray with cooking spray a 10" round baking dish or casserole approximately the same size.
In a frying pan, melt butter.
Add green onions, garlic and green pepper.
Cook for 3-4 minutes until just tender.
Remove from heat and add tomatoes.
Set aside.
In a large bowl, beat eggs.
Stir in bread crumbs,salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce and cheese.
Gently stir in the vegetable mixture.
Pour into the baking dish.
Bake for 35-45 minutes or until the centre is firm to the touch.
This will depend on the size of baking dish you used.
Cool for 5 minutes or so before you cut it.

Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Squares

I think everybody loves Rice Krispie squares.
But there is something better.....
And it has peanut butter!!
( I πŸ’— peanut butter)
These chocolate covered peanut butter squares are soooo good!!

πŸ’«πŸ’«πŸ’«
PEANUT BUTTER RICE KRISPIE SQUARES
*****************************************
1/3 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup corn syrup - light
1/2 cup brown sugar
2/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
πŸ”Ή
4 cups Rice Krispie cereal
πŸ”Ή
1 cup chocolate chips ( I like milk chocolate )
4 tbsp peanut butter
➰➰➰
In a medium saucepan, combine peanut butter, corn syrup, brown sugar and condensed milk.
Cook over medium heat stirring constantly until the mixture has thickened.
Remove from heat and stir in Rice Krispie cereal.
Put into a 9x9 pan that has been sprayed with cooking spray.
Press down to pack into pan.
Let cool.
In a small saucepan, mix chocolate chips and peanut butter over low heat until melted .
Spread chocolate mixture over cereal.
When cool, cut into squares.
Yummy!!

You put everything in it, walk away and when you return...it's done.
It's almost like having someone else cook dinner for you!
Here is a simple dish that goes together in seconds, and is so delectable.

There is lots of sauce to spoon over rice or potatoes too!

EASY CROCKPOT BBQ CHICKEN

Chicken pieces- whatever you fancy
1 bottle of chicken and rib style BBQ sauce
1/4 cup vinegar
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/8 tsp pepper

〰〰
Place chicken pieces in a crockpot that has been sprayed with cooking spray.
Mix remaining ingredients in a medium bowl.
Pour over chicken.
Cover and cook on low for 6 or 7 hours.

Won Ton Soup 🍜

This recipe has become a family favourite.
My kids have requested this recipe to make while away at University.
When they are home, it's certainly a must to make!

It really is a simple soup to make and once the wontons are done, it goes together in minutes.
No need to order out when you can make this delicious soup at home!

🍜🍜🍜🍜🍜🍜🍜🍜🍜
WONTON SOUP
***************
1/2 lb ground pork
1/4 cup chopped green onion
2 tsp soya sauce
3 tsp cornstarch
1 clove garlic - minced fine
3 tsp sesame oil
1/2 cup water
3 tbsp cornstarch
1 package wonton wrappers
8 cups chicken stock
3 tbsp sesame oil
1 tbsp ginger - minced fine
2 tbsp chicken bouillon powder
2-4 cups Chinese cabbage sliced
1/2-1 cup sliced mushrooms 
1/2 cup sliced green onions
〰〰〰〰〰
Blend ground pork, green onion, soya sauce, cornstarch, minced garlic and sesame oil in a medium bowl.
In a small bowl mix water and cornstarch.
Place a wonton wrapper on a work surface.
Place about a teaspoon or so of pork mixture in the middle of wrapper.
Wet edges of wrapper with the cornstarch mixture.
Fold over to make a triangle.
Join corners to seal.


Repeat until all wontons are done.
Keep finished wontons covered with damp paper towels to prevent them getting all hard.
In a large pot, combine, chicken stock, sesame oil, ginger, and chicken bouillon.
Bring to a boil.
Add wontons and cook for about 7 or 8 minutes.
Add vegetables and simmer 5 minutes.

Easy-Cheesy Scalloped Potatos

These are soooooooo good,
And soooo cheesy.....
Mmmmmmm..........
You know what I mean?

Serve with absolutely anything and you will be a star!!
Really.....these are great!

Easy Cheesy Scalloped Potatos

(So.... My daughter with an English degree says I can't add an E to my Potatos or tomatos......)
( I think this may take a while )



Meanwhile.......

Take 6-8 medium  Potatos - thinly sliced
1 onion - thinly sliced
1 cup grated cheese.
1/4 cup all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp dry mustard powder
1/2rap dill weed
2 cups milk
1/2 cup grated cheese 
〰〰〰
Stir flour, dry mustard, dill weed, salt and pepper in a medium saucepan.
Add milk and cook over medium heat until no lumps remain.
It should be thickened. 
Add first amount of cheese and stir until melted.
〰〰
Grease a casserole dish and place half of the Potatos in it.
Add half of the onions.
Add half of the cheese sauce.
Repeat with the rest of the Potatos, onions and cheese sauce.
Sprinkle with remaining cheese.
Cover.
Bake at 350*F for about 90 minutes or until Potatos are done"
I like to uncover then and broil for 6-8 minutes or until nicely browned......

Baked Macaroni and Cheese πŸ§€

Who doesn't love a bowl of comfort?
This classic dish is very easy to prepare and so good!

You won't buy those boxes of Mac and Cheese after you make this.

BAKED MACARONI AND CHEESE
*******************************
2 cups dry macaroni noodles
2 tbsp butter
4 tbsp all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
3 cups milk
1/2 tsp dry mustard powder
1 1/2 cups grated cheese ( old is best)
2 tbsp butter
1 cup dry bread crumbs
〰〰〰
Cook macaroni until tender but still quite firm.
You don't want the noodles completely cooked as they will cook in the oven too.
Drain.
Rinse in cool water to stop cooking process.
Drain
In a medium saucepan, melt butter.
Add salt, pepper and flour and stir until blended.
Add milk and continue stirring until thickened.
Add mustard powder and cheese and mix until cheese is blended.
Mix macaroni and cheese sauce together.
Pour into a greased casserole dish
Melt butter and mix with breadcrumbs.
Sprinkle over top of macaroni mixture.
Bake at 350*F for 30 minutes.
The macaroni and cheese dish should be hot and bubbly.

Cheesy Broc-A-Flower Casserole

This cheesy casserole goes with absolutely everything!
I use fresh when I can, but in a pinch...
Shhhhh....don't tell anyone.....
I have used frozen vegetables to speed it up!
( just thaw first)



This is a perfect dish for Thanksgiving , Christmas, Easter, Monday's , Birthdays, Wednesday's, Sunday's, ........... Basically anytime......

CHEESY BROC-A-FLOWER CASSEROLE 
**************************************
4 cups brocolli- cut up into bite size pieces (* if you have 3-4 cups....it's fine )
4 cups cauliflower- cut up into bite size pieces (* if you have 3-4 cups ...it's fine )
1/3 cup butter
1 onion- diced
2 cloves minced garlic
1/4 cup flour
3 cups chicken broth
1/2 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp seasoning salt
1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese. ( medium or old is best )
2 tbsp butter- melted
1/2 cup bread crumbs

Steam vegetables until they are about 3/4 cooked. DO NOT OVERCOOK!
Set aside.
〰〰
Cook onion, garlic and butter over med/high heat in a frying pan.
Cook until onion is soft.
Add flour and cook about a minute stirring constantly.
Add chicken broth and cook until thickened.
Add salt and pepper.
〰〰
In a oiled casserole dish, put half the veggies.
Pour half the sauce over top.
Sprinkle half the cheese.
Repeat with remaining vegetables, sauce and cheese.
〰〰
Combine breadcrumbs with melted butter.
Sprinkle over casserole.
〰〰
Bake at 375*F for 30-40 minutes or until a nice golden brown.

Lemon Bars πŸ‹

These delicious lemon bars are easy to make and taste great.
They hold up well for packing in a lunch.
A nice lemon flavour will make this a family favourite.


LEMON BARS
**************

1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
3/4 cup icing sugar
3/4 cup butter - completely melted

πŸ‹πŸ‹

6 eggs
3 cups white sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup flour
1/3 cup FRESH lemon juice ( about 3 )
Zest of 3 lemons

πŸ‹πŸ‹

Preheat oven to 350*F
Mix flour and icing sugar in a large bowl.
Add melted butter and mix with a fork until crumbly.
Press into a greased 9x13 cake pan.
Bake for 10 minutes 

While the crust is baking make the lemon mixture

Beat the eggs until they are light and frothy.
Add the remaining ingredients. 
Mix well.

When crust is done, take out of the oven and immediately pour lemon mixture over.
Put back in the oven and bake 45 minutes more.
It's done when the middle isn't jiggly and the edges are just turning brown.
Let cool COMPLETELY before slicing.
Dust with icing sugar

Creamy Potatoe Salad

 This is a very nice creamy salad that goes with everything.
Great for the summer time BBQ.


I add dill pickle juice to give it a nice zing, but if you don't like pickles just leave it out.


CREAMY POTATOE SALAD
**************************
6 cups cut up cooked and cooled potatoes
2 green onions chopped ( I like the color in the salad)
1/3 cup finely chopped onion
1 cup mayonnaise 
1/4 cup dill pickle juice
1/2 tsp seasoning salt
1/2 tsp pepper
*optional- add chopped hard boiled egg if you like 
〰〰〰
Mix all ingredients in a large bowl.
Add more mayonnaise if too dry.
Transfer to a nice serving dish and sprinkle lightly with paprika or a bit more seasoning salt.

Date Squares

I love dates and these tasty squares are a real treat.
They hold together well and stay moist.


DATE SQUARES
***************
1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 cups rolled oats
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup butter or margarine 

〰〰〰〰
500 gm package dates - cut up ( about 1/2 lb)
1/2 cup sugar
2/3 cup water

〰〰〰〰
Mix flour, oats, sugar, soda and salt in a large bowl. 
Add butter and mix until mixture is crumbly.
Press 2/3 of the mixture into a greased square cake pan. (9x9)
Set aside.
In a saucepan, combine the cut up dates, sugar and water.
Bring to a boil and simmer until mixture is mushy. 
You may need to add a bit more water if the dates are not softened enough.
Spread date mixture over crumb mixture in cake pan.
Sprinkle with remaining crumb mixture and flatten down with your hand.

Bake at 350 * F for 25-35 minutes or until it is a nice golden brown color.
Cool completely before cutting into squares.

Classic Bran Muffins With Raisins

The muffins are delicious.
With butter or a slice of cheese....yum.
Added bonus is they are good for you too!




CLASSIC BRAN MUFFINS WITH RAISINS
*************************************

1 1/2 cups natural wheat bran
1 cup buttermilk
1/3 cup vegetable oil
2/3 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 cup all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup raisins ( cranberries,blueberries or dates are good too)

〰〰〰
Preheat oven to 375*F
Grease 12 muffin tins
〰〰〰

In a large bowl combine bran and buttermilk.
Let stand about 5 minutes for the bran to absorb the milk.
Add oil, brown sugar, egg and vanilla.
Stir.
Add flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
Stir just until combined.
Add raisins.
Spoon into muffin tins and bake 15 minutes.

Yummy Meatballs

For spaghetti , and appetizer or just on their own, meatballs are fun to eat.
There are so many sauces and dips to try and everyone has their favorite.
Here is my simple recipe for basic meatballs.


YUMMY MEATBALLS
**********************
1 lb lean ground beef
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 cup very finely chopped onion
2 garlic cloves - minced
1 egg
1/2 tsp seasoned salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

➰➰➰➰

Combine everything in a bowl.
Mix well.
Roll into 1 1/2" to 2" balls.
Put into greased baking pan and bake at 400*F for 10 minutes.
Turn over to brown both sides evenly.
Bake for 10  minutes more or until fully cooked through.

Serve with your favorite sauce.

Old Fashioned Meatloaf

I love a good meatloaf.
There are so many ways to make one.
This is an easy, flavourful recipe that is always a hit.


Serve this with mashed potatoes and a green vegetable for a delicious meal!

OLD FASHIONED MEATLOAF

1 chopped medium onion
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp dry mustard powder
1 clove minced garlic
1/8 tsp seasoning salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1 egg
1/2 cup breadcrumbs

Mix everything together and put into a loaf pan or small casserole dish.

Bake at 350*F for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Pour 1 can of tomatoe soup over top and sprinkle with a bit of pepper.
➰➰➰
Put back in oven for 20-25 minutes.

Simply lay a wooden spoon across the pot.
When the bubbles touch the spoon they break.

Basic White Sauce

Here is a basic white sauce that is handy to know how to make.
Add cheese for a delicious cheese sauce to serve over vegetables.



BASIC WHITE SAUCE
**********************
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup milk
1/8 tsp pepper

〰〰〰
Melt butter in saucepan over medium heat.
Blend in flour salt and pepper.
Add milk all at once while whisking mixture.
Cook quickly.
Continue cooking until mixture thickens and bubbles.

Maple Mustard Pork Roast

The sweetness of a maple syrup glaze on a succulent moist pork roast.....
The house smells AMAZING !!


I'm serving this delicious roast with mashed potatoes and fresh green beans.
I can't wait for dinner!!

MAPLE-MUSTARD PORK ROAST
*******************************

1/2 cup maple syrup
2 tsp dry mustard powder
1/8 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper

1 tbsp flour
1/4 cup water

1 pork roast

▪️▫️▪️▫️▪️
Heat oven to 350*F
Place pork roast in a roasting pan.
Mix maple syrup, mustard powder , salt and pepper in a small bowl.
Brush on roast to coat.
Put roast in hot oven.
Coat with maple syrup mixture every 30 minutes until roast reaches 160*F internally.
Take out of oven and put roast on platter to rest covered in foil for 15 minutes.
Meanwhile.....
Mix flour and water and combine with the remaining maple syrup mixture and the pork drippings.
Stir and heat over medium heat until bubbly and thickened.
Add a bit of water if the mixture becomes too thick.
Use as gravy for the roast.

Butterscotch Confetti Bars πŸŽ‰

This has got to be my all time favorite bar!
I couldn't even count the number of pans of this I have made throughout the years.
Does anyone not love this stuff??


Try it right out of the freezer...OMG....soooo good.

BUTTERSCOTCH CONFETTI
**************************
1/4 cup butter or hard margarine
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup butterscotch chips 
1 small bag of small coloured marshmallows
πŸ’₯
Melt the butter/ margarine and peanut butter over low/med heat.
Stir in butterscotch chips.
When chips are melted, take pan off heat.
Keep stirring to help cool mixture a bit. ( You don't want to melt the marshmallows)
When you can hold your hand to the bottom of pan, add in marshmallows.
Stir until they are all coated.
Pat into a greased 9x9 inch pan.
Put in the refrigerator or freezer to set.

Salisbury Steak

I know...
You are thinking this will be too hard to make....
Trust me....
It's not.
This is made with lean ground beef, and it is quite simple.


This recipe serves 6-8


SALISBURY STEAK
******************
2 lbs lean ground beef
1 medium onion chopped
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1/4 cup water
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp dry mustard powder

Form into 8 good sized patties
Fry for 4-5 minutes a side to brown.

Transfer to an oiled oven safe dish.

Drain fat out frying pan and use pan to make sauce.

πŸ”ΈπŸ”ΈπŸ”Έ
MUSHROOM SAUCE
*******************
3 1/2 cups beef broth ( I use a tetra pack of broth)
5 tbsp flour
2 cups fresh mushrooms sliced
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
πŸ”ΈπŸ”ΈπŸ”Έ
Mix 1/2 cup of broth and flour together...set aside.

Pour remaining broth into pan and bring to a boil.
Scrape bits off bottom of pan.
Add mushrooms and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Add flour mixture and stir constantly until thickened.

Pour sauce over patties, cover with foil and bake at 350*F for 45 minutes.

This is awesome served over mashed potatoes!

So...you are all ready to do some baking.

You don't have enough baking powder!
What do you do?

Try this instead..

For every teaspoon of baking powder you need

Mix 1/2 tsp cream of tarter and 1/4 tsp baking soda

Apple Coffee Cake 🍎🍎

This type of cake is perfect served with coffee or tea.
It's great for when you want something sweet, but not too sweet.



APPLE COFFEE CAKE
********************

1 1/3 cup flour
3/4 cup white sugar
4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup margarine
1 egg
3/4 cup milk
3 apples peeled and sliced
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon

πŸ”ΉπŸ”Ή

Combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a bowl.
Add margarine and mix until mixture is crumbly.
( I use a pastry cutter, but a fork will work too )

Add egg and milk.

Stir just to moisten.

Pour batter into a greased square cake pan.

Put apple slices on top and gently push them into batter.

In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon.
Sprinkle on top of batter.

Bake at 350*F for 1 hour
