This is real comfort food
The smell of a delicious homemade stew starts your stomach growling for some!
This is the EASIEST....most delicious stew around!
There are NEVER any leftovers when I make it.๐
The first thing you will notice with this recipe is the lack of specific amounts for the ingredients.
That's because I use whatever I have on hand.
If I have more carrots than anything else...we eat more carrots
Have a parsnip, add it.
Have a turnip...great.
No celery?...no problem.
Saving money and being frugal isn't about running to the store to buy the ingredients for every recipe you want to make, it's about making do with what you have.

EASY OVEN STEW
-------------------------------
Heat oven to 350*F
*Stewing beef cut into bite size pieces
( no beef ? Use pork or chicken)
*Large onion
*Celery
*Carrots
*Potatoes
*Frozen peas
* 1 Envelope of dry onion soup mix
* 2-3 Tins of mushroom soup
( I use 3, but if you are unsure if you have used enough, after about 45 minutes of cooking, check and give stew a stir. If you feel there is not enough 'gravy' , add more soup or water.)
**** Remember that if you add too much water your gravy will not be as thick! A little is fine, but too much will water down the flavour *****
Step 1) Cut up meat into bite size pieces
Put into lg oven proof roaster with lid
Step 2) Add cut up vegetables
Step 3) Add onion soup mix and canned soup
Step 4) Cover and bake for 1 1/2 hours
Add frozen peas and cover and put back in oven for 15-20 minutes more.
Serve with bread for a delicious, hearty dinner!
